About Us
The Nursing and Midwifery Development Foundation (NMDF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to working with non-governmental organizations to strengthen the nursing and midwifery workforce in conflict-affected and underserved areas. Our goal is to empower nurses, midwives, and other healthcare professionals to enhance patient care and improve professional standards worldwide. We advance continuing education initiatives, provide operational support, and advocate for professional development; collaborating with local and international universities and charitable organizations.

Vision: Our vision is to improve healthcare outcomes by supporting nurses, midwives, and other healthcare professionals in conflict-affected and underserved areas globally.
Mission: We empower nurses, midwives, and other healthcare professionals worldwide by advancing continuing education, advocating for professional development, and providing operational support

Our programs strengthen the nursing and midwifery professions where they’re needed most—through education, training, and workforce development that create lasting change. At the heart of our work is the RISE Global Health Educators Network, our cornerstone initiative that connects experienced nurses and midwives from around the world to train and mentor healthcare providers in conflict-affected and underserved areas.
We also work to build stronger systems of care by promoting licensure and registration where they don’t yet exist, defining scope of practice, and advocating for professional development and leadership opportunities. Through research, like our Nursing Workforce Survey, we provide critical data that guides policy, improves education, and ensures every nurse and midwife has the support they need to care for their communities.
